My Diary

Well, it’s been a little while since our last update, so here goes. I (Jacob’s Daddy) have gone back to work. This has been quite a shock to the system, not having worked for two and a half years, but I am really enjoying the change of routine and it has been great to catch up with old friends. Seeing less of the boys has been hard though, as I am usually up and out of the house before they are awake. Nicky is very well and enjoying just being with the boys and making sure they have fun. The time apart has also done us some good, as although we love each other dearly, you can spend too much time together and we now have a better balance.

Ben celebrated his 2nd Birthday a few weeks ago and is generally growing up to be a smashing little lad - he and Jacob are so close. Before we know it Ben will be staring school! Speaking of which, Jacob will be starting at his new school in September. He is so excited about this, as he will be back with so many of his old friends from nursery. We said goodbye to the staff and friends at his old school recently, which was sad as Jacob made so many good friends there and touched so many hearts. His school also did a lot of fundraising for Jacob for which we are eternally grateful.

Jacob remains well and is continuing his oral chemotherapy without too many complications, although his liver function did become a little elevated recently. Hopefully this won’t continue to be a problem. Jacob is beginning to eat a little more now, but we still need to feed him by tube as well.

In the near future we will have to endure the inevitable scans and bone marrow biopsies, but to be honest we seem able to forget about this for the most part and are just enjoying life again. Occasionally we do dwell on the future and it’s hard not to be afraid sometimes as we know what this monster called neuroblastoma is capable of and relapse rates are high. All in all though, we now have some kind of normal which is more than we could ever hope for.

Love to you all and please keep Jacob and all the the other little soldiers in your prayers.

Some Kind Of Normal
