My Diary

How quickly things can change. Jacob had his regular health check at the hospital last week and everything was fine. The following evening we noticed two small lumps on Jacob’s neck. Jacob told us these were painful to the touch, we tried no to panic, but instead gave in to excessive worry.

Telephone calls were made to Jacob’s Consultant first thing the next day. Then came some bad news regarding Jacob’s earlier treatment, confirmed in a meeting with the Consultant later the same day. This is sensitive and I have chosen not to divulge details, but will when, and if, I am able to.

Anyway, the upshot of all this is that over the course of the next two weeks Jacob will be ‘re-staged’ to ascertain whether any cancer is evident. This will involve an MIBG scan, CT scan, bone marrow biopsies and a bone scan. I cannot put into words how we feel about what has happened, that we are having to put Jacob through all this again and that he may now require further treatment.

We won’t have any results for a week or so, and the full picture is unlikely to emerge for a further three weeks. Please pray for positive results for Jacob, he needs these now more than ever.

Anthony.

A Set Back?
