My Diary

Just a quick update to let everyone know that Jacob’s surgery went ahead as planned on the 14th February. The operation lasted for seven hours and was free of any major complications. However, the surgeons discovered that Jacob’s tumour had actually attached itself to his spine, so this was obviously a very delicate and risky procedure to say the least! The surgeons were absolutely incredible and guided us through everything they would have to do and the possible risks involved in his surgery. We can’t thank them enough for what they done.

Jacob is now being looked after in the Intensive Care Unit at Alder Hey and everyone is really pleased with his progress so far. His little body has taken quite a battering though and will take a while to recover.

We have also had the fantastic news that Jacob’s bone marrow tests have all come back as being free from cancer. This is the first time that we have ever had completely clear marrow results and after nearly a year of constant bad news, we are absolutely over the moon. This now means that Jacob can progress with further UK based treatment, but more about this later.

We just want to thank everyone for their kind words and messages of support prior to Jacob’s surgery. I wish I could thank everyone personally, but we have our hands quite full at the moment.

Please keep Jacob in your prayers and keep thinking positively about him, it really is working.

Bless you all.

Surgery Done!
