My Diary

Jacob is back into hospital today to begin his stem cell recovery. This is a procedure in which stem cells are taken from Jacob’s bone marrow and then frozen and placed in storage. These cells can then be given back to Jacob to help his blood counts recover after future treatments. Jacob will need these after his MIBG treatment which begins soon. This procedure will begin with Jacob having an operation to insert another Hickman line into one of his main arteries. His stem cells will then be extracted until they have enough for future use.

Jacob has had so many operations now and it doesn’t get any easier for us, but he copes well and always amazes the medical staff with his quick recovery. Actually, Jacob was happy to go to hospital today (as you can see from the picture taken just before he left) because his buddy Callum is in at the moment having the same procedure. However, I still got the usual telephone call from Jacob later in the day saying “I miss you Daddy”.

Hopefully Jacob will be home on Wednesday, but he could be in longer. We will then have a week or so at home before going down to London for MIBG treatment.

I Miss You
